Why London Serviced Accommodation Scores Highly For 2025’s Summer Sporting Events

The UK is gearing up for a blockbuster summer of sport, with the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Twickenham and The Hundred in cricket set to take place in London later in the year.

Before then, there are a number of other top-tier events to kick off your summer in style.

  • Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot, taking place this year between June 17 and 21, lives up to its official motto: “Like nowhere else”. The five-day extravaganza has been a major highlight of the UK’s social calendar since Queen Anne founded it in 1711 at Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire. Expect a mix of fashion, elegance and tradition as well as, of course, sport, with some 500 horses racing across the five days, broadcast to nearly 200 countries worldwide.

Each of the five days has its highlights, from Ladies’ Day to Opening Day, and you can expect to see royalty in attendance at every key event. The excitement kicks off with the Queen Anne Stakes, Ladies’ Day is on June 19 this year, and the week ends with the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes on Saturday June 21.

  • Anyone for tennis?

The UK offers a superb summer of tennis, with the Queens Club ATP Tournament taking place at this historic West Kensington club, London from June 7 to 22nd. It’s the most prestigious grass-court tournament ahead of Wimbledon and attracts some of the sport’s brightest stars. Apart from the huge prize money, the 500 ranking points up for grabs to victors at Queen’s could affect seedings for Wimbledon, the year’s third Grand Slam. This year, Naomi Osaka, Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu are among the big names to confirm they’ll be playing, with others yet to be announced.

But Wimbledon always stands out as the world’s most uniquely prestigious tennis championship, thanks to its rich history dating back to 1877, making it the oldest event of its kind, iconic grass courts and respect for tradition. It’s the only Grand Slam tournament still played on natural grass, a surface requiring a distinctive style of play.

Wimbledon has an enticingly traditional atmosphere, from the all-white dress code for players to the traditional refreshments – think Pimm’s and strawberries and cream. The fact that royals and international celebrities are often in attendance only adds to the spectator experience, prestige and glamour.

Serviced apartments in London for sporting events

If you’re looking forward to enjoying a top-tier sporting event in London this summer, you’ll obviously need somewhere to stay while you’re in town.

Serviced apartments offer a number of advantages over hotels or other types of rentals:

  • Greater space and comfort

You’ll have more room in which to make yourself feel at home, including a full kitchen. So serviced apartments are ideal for groups and families. You’ll have enough space to relax, prepare food and eat comfortably after an exciting day watching your chosen sport.

  • Cost-effective

If you’re in London for a whole event, or are perhaps (and why ever not?) taking in several sporting highlights this summer, serviced accommodation can work out as highly cost-effective. There’s a transparent pricing structure with no hidden extras, and, as mentioned, you can save money by cooking your own food (or ordering in) if you wish.

  • Control and flexibility

Come and go from your accommodation as you please and book for any length of stay from a few nights to weeks on end. An apartment like this really can be your home from home.

You’ll also benefit from perks such as high-speed free Wi-Fi, your own laundry facilities, housekeeping and so on that you may not enjoy with standard holiday rentals. Finally, you may also find yourself more immersed in the local community or neighbourhood, meaning you enjoy a more authentic London experience.
