Are you off to Silverstone this summer? Be in pole position with 37GS Residences London Serviced Accommodation
The Silverstone motor racing circuit in Northamptonshire, England, is set across 600 acres of some of the UK’s most stunning countryside. And you may already be aware that the place is home to the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted in 1948. Two years later, the inaugural F1 World Championship race took place at the circuit, a landmark event in the sport’s history. And there have been many iconic moments in racing history at the 6km track since.
The circuit is located on the site of a former RAF bomber station, which was active during the Second World War. (Three runways in a triangle formation remain on the site, adding to its unique character and heritage.)
Silverstone, of course, also has a reputation for speed and is a technically demanding course. For both drivers and spectators, the track’s layout, offering various overtaking opportunities, makes for thrilling experiences. Corners, with names like Maggotts and Becketts, are especially challenging.
Fans here tend to be enthusiastic and passionate about motorsport, so viewing races at Silverstone is invariably lively, exciting and memorable.
As well as Formula 1, and the British Grand Prix in particular, Silverstone hosts a number of other events, as well as track days and driving experiences.
Visit Silverstone this summer
- Silverstone Festival takes place from August 22nd to 24th. Enjoy three nights of fantastic live music from headliners including Natasha Bedingfield, great food and a real festival feel for the late-summer Bank Holiday. Other highlights of the non-stop action include the display of title-winning cars as raced by all 34 F1 World Drivers Champions (from 15 nations) as part of a special celebration of 75 years of the series, at its birthplace.
- The British Grand Prix will be held at Silverstone from July 4 to 6, offering a unique racing weekend. Free practice on Friday is followed by Saturday’s qualifying rounds ahead of the main race on Sunday. In addition to the racing action, the event features comedy and music performances, as well as numerous activities in the Fan Zone.
Where to stay when attending a Silverstone event?
While staying in the area may seem the obvious thing to do, you might find that local accommodation on race weekends is all booked up. What’s more, if you stay in London, you can combine trips to the racetrack with experiencing all that the UK’s capital has to offer. Equally, if someone you’re travelling with has no interest in motorsport, they can enjoy the city while you and any other race fans in your party head trackside.
And it’s easier than you think by road or rail, with taxis available for return journeys to the circuit from stations such as Milton Keynes Central or Northampton and journeys from London taking just a couple of hours.
Why luxury serviced apartments make sense
Serviced apartments are a great idea for visiting Silverstone, and offer more space and amenities than standard hotel accommodation, including self-catering facilities, making it much easier to make yourself at home. They’re an especially attractive option for larger groups and families, or those who want to enjoy greater flexibility, comfort and privacy.
Manage your own schedule and plan mealtimes around your trips to the track. And, especially at times of peak events, serviced apartments can work out as highly cost-effective, especially for bigger parties or longer stays.
